Blood Drive

Eagle Robotics began hosting Lancaster High School’s blood drives in 2007. Since we took over, we have increased the school’s annual blood collections by 550%. We have collected 185 units of blood so far, each of which has the potential to save up to 3 lives. Awards we have won include the Trio Award, the 550% Increase Club, and the Teresa Del Rio Award, which is awarded to only 4 high schools in California each year. Upcoming blood drive dates are February 25 and May 14.

Relay for Life Cancer Walk

Eagle Robotics has had several loved members suffer from different types of cancer. That is why we do everything we can to help the fight against cancer. For many years Eagle Robotics members have been participating in the American Cancer Societies Relay for Life. This year Eagle Robotics members raised money, and over half of them spent over 12 hours at the event walking the track and participating in their other activities.

Adopt-a-Plane

On the first Saturday of every month, a group of about 4-5 students from team 399 meet at Joe Davies Heritage Air Park Palmdale Plant number 42. We spend a couple of hours cleaning the plane and the area around it.

Cherish the Child Calendars

Eagle Robotics designs a monthly calendar that outlines free or inexpensive events for parents with children under 5 years old. We send the calendars out to several people and organizations and we also pass the out at our monthly Robot Read-Alouds.

Virtual Book Drive

In one of the Eagle Robotics FIRSTales, Izzy Gets Involved, a young robot starts a book drive to help underprivileged children enjoy the magic of books; Eagle Robotics decided to do the same. With the website www.firstbook.org, and their program, “Books For Kids, Books for Keeps” we are able to have an on going virtual drive where people can donate money that is used to buy underprivileged children their very first books.
