Robot-Read-Alouds
Our monthly Robot Road-Aloud program began in 2006. We bring a FTC robot to Barne’s and Noble and let children of all ages drive it. We also read a story about robots and give out robot toys, buttons, and coloring sheets.

Eaglets
One of our newer initiatives is our Eaglet Program that provides 8th grade students the opportunity to participate in FIRST at the high school level. The students work with our team during our 6-week build season, gaining a first-hand understanding of the depth and breadth of the FRC program.

Girl Scout Ambassador Troop
Our team values the importance of broadening opportunities for women in STEM careers. In order to do this, members of our own Girl Scout Ambassador Troop 1822 host a Girl Scout workshop annually. They create an opportunity for the young Girl Scouts to earn their Make It Matter badge while developing an interest in science.

FIRST LEGO League Tournaments
2011 marked Team 399’s 6th year coordinating the High Desert LEGO Tournament, an unofficial FLL scrimmage. Each of the 26 attending teams contributed to our book drive to help Discovery School, a newly built Stem school, build its empty library. We also co-hosted a new tournament dubbed the AV Techno Classic with NASA’s Aero Institute and FLL teams the Science Jets and Jooi Droids.

Red Cross Blood Drives
This year our Blood Drives took on a new meaning when one of our most beloved teachers at LnHS was diagnosed with Leukemia. Our team actively promotes and hosts three blood drives yearly. In fact, in 2009, we were the winner of Teresa Del Rio Award from the Red Cross for our percentage increase in donations of 550%. In his honor, the team decided to add an additional blood drive this year trying to help the best way we know how. We also offered to help the family in any way possible.

Summer Robotics Workshop
Eagle Robotics partners with NASA and FTC teams 72 and 452 for our weeklong Summer Vex Workshop. This workshop enables students to experience the thrills of manufacturing a VEX Robot and competing in a mini competition.

Adopt-A-Plane
Realizing that the foundation of the Antelope Valley is based on the aerospace industry, Eagle Robotics supports the Adopt-A-Plane Program at our local airpark by cleaning the F-105 Thunderchief monthly.

LEGO Roadshow
As the FLL program has grown, our method of presentation has likewise evolved into mobile robotics outreach affectionately known as the LEGO Road Show. Team members travel to local elementary and middle schools to demonstrate FLL robots, sparking an interest in FIRST.

Gateway Academy
We strive to ignite this interest in science and technology in younger students by hosting the Gateway Academy Workshop. This 5-day workshop exposes middle school students to various engineering opportunities and establishes an early interest in aerospace and robotics among students.

Super Science Saturday
Middle school students operate our FRC robots and have the opportunity to recreate portions of the actual game.

FIRST LEGO League Mentors
Eagle Robotics proudly mentors several FIRST Lego League teams throughout the Antelope Valley. Over the past nine years, our team members have mentored hundreds of FIRST LEGO League students. This year, we were able to sponsor 4 of them.

The Painted Turtle
Every year our team volunteers to ready the camp at the Painted Turtle. This facility is the sixth addition to Paul Newman’s family of Hole in the Wall Camps for seriously ill children. It is also the only multi-disease camp and family care center of its kind on the West Coast. Through educational, therapeutic, safe, and just plain fun summer camp and year-round programs, this camp offers a life changing experience.
